Waterdragon Weekly Sunday Post: Stairway

My soul can find no staircase to Heaven unless it be through Earth’s loveliness.
~Michelangelo

Freestanding stairway in the former Governor's mansion.

This photo was taken in what I believe to be the former Governor’s mansion in Charleston, South Carolina.  We were there for my cousin’s daughter’s wedding reception.  It was a lovely  place to have a reception.

I love freestanding stairways.  The curves, the flowing steps, and the appearance of being as light as a feather, make freestanding stairways seem both elegant and magical.

    • Thank you Jim! I appreciate that.
We’ve been gone again. Our daughter received her Master’s degree, so we were out of town for a couple of days. Now we are home for quite awhile!!

    • It was a very special room…just for a stairway, Judy! Actually, it was a very large foyer, I suppose. The door appears smaller than normal in the photo. I think it was….if I’m remembering correctly. You’re right, the layout is unique! Thank you for commenting.

    • Thank you, Margie! I love freestanding stairways.
We’ve been gone again! Our daughter received her Master’s degree from Grand Valley S.U. last night…so we spent a couple of days in Grand Rapids. We always enjoy that city… But now we’re home again for a long time! 😉

    • These stairways are just the coolest! Thanks for your comment, Sheila! We’ve been gone again…this time to our daughter’s Master’s degree graduation. Now home for a long time! 😉

    • Thanks, Isadora! I just love free-standing stairways too! I can picture the same thing…long flowing gown…suitor waiting at the bottom!

I'd love to hear from you~
