Les Belles Fleurs L’hiver (beautiful flowers in winter)

Hello great blog readers!
I’m ready for spring!  If we can’t have spring let’s have some nice, deep snow!  I haven’t had a chance to cross-country ski or snowshoe yet.  It has been a different kind of winter for our whole country!  The south is freezing and the northern ski slopes are struggling for lack of snow.

I’m controlling Mother Nature today and I declare it’s SPRING in my house!
I like to buy inexpensive bunches of tulips at the market in the winter.  It brings color into the house and it brightens a dreary day.
Plus….it gives me something else to on which to practice my indoor Macro shots.  I’ve taken photos of all the pens, boxes, plants, lamps, paperweights, coasters, floors, candle holders and plates in the house already, so this gives me some variety! 😉

The flowers of late winter and early spring occupy places in our hearts well out of proportion to their size.

    • Hi Arun…thank you! I apologize…internet was down yesterday) Not a wide angle..I use extension tubes, less expensive than a macro lens. (although I just got a macro yesterday) Settings were all different…but for the double red tulips it was: f8, shutter speed: 1/60, ISO 1600. For the yellow tulip: f5.6, speed: 1/200, ISO 1600. For the rose: f5.3, speed:1/10, ISO 1600. Hope this helps!

    • WOW! Thank you Elyas! I’m so honored and humbled to receive this award from you! Thank you again!
I’ve got to get busy! I have a backlog of awards to give out! 😉

    • Thank you Lady Deidre…..I echo your feelings! All I do is buy a $5 bunch at the market….it really give me a lift!
Thank you, and Blessings to you also!

  2. Beautiful shots, Judy! I like the details in the third one.
Must be freezing cold over there.
Yes, the flowers are so soothing for our eyes and you have captured them so well for your readers. Thanks for sharing!

    • Thank you so much Bindu. We have had freezing weather, but now we have higher temps and rain. It’s certainly been a different winter for us. Not much snow. Unusual. But I do need to see color! Thanks again!

    • Thank you, Jim. I am trying! I’ve been playing with ISO, aperture and shutter speed. If I were taking a photo of a bird….they’d be long gone by the time I got the right combo of settings! But I’m getting better with cement…and things that don’t move! 😉

  3. Oh ! These are so beautiful photos ! You’re good at macro Judy ! My favourite one is the third from the top. It makes me want to run to the florist and buy some beautiful flowers.

    • That’s very sweet of you, Jocelyne! I love what you said about running to the florist for flowers! It’s one of my favorite things to do in the winter too!

I'd love to hear from you~
